Filing an Application
Your application for deferral must be filed with your county assessor between January 1st and April 15th to defer the taxes that would be billed to you the next fall. Applications and income worksheets are at your assessor's office. The Oregon Department of Revenue will not pay taxes that were delinquent when you apply.
When filing for deferral, you must attach the following:
- Copy of property tax statement or printout for the previous year (available at county tax office).
- Income worksheet.
- Copy of Power of Attorney, if one has been issued.
Your assessor will send the completed application and required information to the Oregon Department of Revenue for approval. If approved, the department will ask the county for your tax statement and will pay your taxes for you.
