The responsibilities of the Department of Assessment and Taxation include appraisal and assessment of property; collection of property taxes for all taxing entities; recording documents, land plats, issuing marriage licenses, records retention and administration of Elections.
Legislature Changes Senior/Disabled Property Tax Deferral Program
During the 2011 Legislative session, changes were made to the Senior/Disabled Deferral property tax program. Property Tax Statement
Many of you will be receiving your annual Property Tax Statement on or before October 25, 2011. Payment for taxes are due on or before November 15, 2011. Two drop boxes are located in the Public Services Building, 155 N. First Ave., Hillsboro. These boxes are available October 26th through November 15th. The 24 hour drop box site is located at the rear of the building; the other drop box site is available Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, located in the Public Services Building lobby outside Room 130.

Payments must be POSTMARKED on or before November 15, 2011. Please return the lower portion of your tax bill(s) with payment in the enclosed envelope. You may also send payments directly to:
