Community Boards and Commissions

Serving on an appointed board, committee or commission is a great way to participate in decisions that affect you and to learn more about how your local government works. The County's boards and commissions play a variety of important roles in advising the Board of Commissioners on service priorities, how to distribute available resources, and how to improve our collaboration with other parts of the community. Some (for instance the Civil Service Commission and the Board of Property Tax Appeals) actually have a quasi-judicial authority to review decisions by the County government.
