Metro Projects: Killin Wetlands and the Council Creek Trail

Hear from Metro on two local projects:

  • Killin Wetlands Natural Area - A 589.6-acre parcel between Banks and Gales Creek, provides a rare example of a peat wetland in Oregon. A Master Plan calls for development of trails, benches, parking, and more to improve public access to the site.
  • The Council Creek Regional Trail - A proposed multi-use pathway for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other non-motorized travelers, extending from Hillsboro to the Banks-Vernonia Trail in Banks, going through our CPO in the Verboort area.

Oregon Department of Forestry: Trees to Seas Scenic Byway
The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) is proposing that Highways 6 and 131 be designated the Trees to Seas Scenic Byway, starting in Banks and going through Gales Creek and Glenwood, all the way to the Cape Meares lighthouse. Hear from an ODF representative about the proposal.
