National Recognition of Outstanding Efforts
Washington County's Office of Community Development and the City of Beaverton have received the National Community Development Association's 2014 John A. Sasso National Community Development Week Award for outstanding community efforts in recognizing the federal CDBG and HOME programs through a variety of events during the month of April: proclamations by the County, Consortium cities and non-profit agencies;project photo boards displayed at each city office and the County's Public Services Building highlighting the benefits of these critical programs, and a day-long bus tour of projects for elected officials and public/private partners.
Congresswoman Bonamici kicked off the day's events with comments about the importance of these programs. The Congresswoman and staff from her office and from Senators Wyden and Merkley's offices were present for portions of the tour.
The award reflects the impact of projects undertaken by County departments, cities and non-profit housing and service providers for their dedicated service to persons with low and moderate income. For more information about the CDBG and HOME programs, please see our Tour Booklet which describes the many quality projects and agencies that we serve.
