County Counsel

The Office of County Counsel provides legal advice to assist Washington County Government and affiliated agencies in achieving their goals and resolving problems.  It represents these clients in civil litigation and in administrative and enforcement proceedings.  It accomplishes its mission by delivering quality legal services and creative solutions at a reasonable cost, while adhering to the highest ethical standards.

County Counsel represents Washington County, including the Board of Commissioners, the Sheriff and all county departments and employees.  We also represent the Washington County Housing Authority, Fair Board, Enhanced Sheriff's Patrol District, Urban Road Maintenance District, Service District for Lighting, and Cooperative Library Services.

County Counsel does not represent Clean Water Services, any city, county, special district (such as THPRD or TVF&R), school district, or any private individual or entity. County Counsel does not do criminal law.  Criminal matters are handled by the Office of District Attorney.
