District Attorney's Office
The District Attorney's Office is responsible for the prosecution of individuals charged with crimes and other violations of state statutes that occur within Washington County. The District Attorney also provides legal assistance to the county's Juvenile Department, and prepares legal documents and performs trial work in delinquency and dependency proceedings. The District Attorney's Child Support Enforcement Program establishes paternity and monitors and enforces court-ordered child support judgments, actively pursuing delinquent non-custodial parents. The Washington County District Attorney's Office works collaboratively with all of the law enforcement agencies in Washington County as well as with the Community Corrections and Juvenile Departments. The District Attorney's Office is a member of the Local Public Safety Coordinating Council, the Governor's Sexual Assault Task Force, the Crime Victim Assistance Network of Oregon, the local Domestic Violence Intervention Council and leads the county's Major Crimes Team, Child Abuse and Elder Abuse Multidisciplinary Teams. Attorneys from the office also work closely with and assist members of interagency teams such as the Westside Interagency Narcotics team, the Fraud and Identity Theft Enforcement team, the Interagency Gang Enforcement Team, the Interagency Crimes Against Children team, the Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Team and the Metropolitan Gang Task Force.
