Meet the DA

Bob Hermann is the Washington County District Attorney. He has been a prosecutor for Washington County, Oregon since 1975 and from 1982 to 1998 he served as the Chief Deputy District Attorney. He has been the District Attorney since January, 1999 and is currently serving his 4th term of office. During his years as a prosecutor he has prosecuted hundreds of cases and has specialized in both adult and child sexual assault cases, physical child abuse cases, arson and fraud cases, and presently, murder and aggravated murder cases. He has prosecuted over two dozen murder or aggravated murder cases to a judge or jury.
Since becoming District Attorney, Mr. Hermann has represented his office and the County in a variety of capacities and roles for various organizations.
He has been a Board Member for Washington County Rape Victim Advocates, Board Member and president of the Women's Shelter, Board Member and volunteer for Make a Wish Foundation of Oregon, Board Member and president of the Washington County Bar Association, and Board Member and president of the Oregon District Attorneys Association. He has spoken and lectured for numerous organizations and conferences, schools and Citizens' Academies, including his role as a speaker/instructor in Sakhalin, Russia, helping in their implementation of the criminal jury trial process.
Hermann grew up in SW Portland. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Rhetoric from Willamette University in 1971 and his Juris Doctor from Willamette College of Law in 1974.
