Behavioral Health Council

The Behavioral Health Council is an advisory and planning group appointed by the Washington County Board of Commissioners.  It advises the Department of Health and Human Services on a broad range of behavioral services including mental health, and addiction treatment.  These treatment services are provided by publicly funded service agencies contracted with Washington County to deliver the services.

New members to the council are welcome when an existing member leaves, creating a vacancy.  In order to become a member of the Council, and fill a vacancy, a completed application is required.  New members are chosen from all qualified applicants.

The Council meets once a month for 2 hours.  In addition to attending these meetings, members may be asked to participate in task oriented sub-committees that are needed as specific projects occur throughout the year.

Washington County has been a leader in the development of unique and effective programs for its residents.  With the fast changing health and human services delivery systems occurring nationally, and in Oregon, it is essential that the Adult Behavioral Health Council include members with diverse expertise as well as a strong commitment to helping design excellent public behavioral health services for the community.
