December 2007 – The Youth Advisory Council voted to donate food from their pantries to the food bank. One enterprising member went door to door in her neighborhood and collected nearly 400 items.

 

 

 

 

Leg Break 2007

 

November 2007 – Council members attended two Legislative Breakfasts hosted by the Commission.

Around 550 students and leaders attended the 3rd Annual Youth Summit. There were 35 teams representing all seven school districts. Projects addressing this year's subject areas, addiction, gang prevention or community engagement, are being developed. Small grants of up to $1,000 each will be awarded.

Culmination 2007 project

 

May 2007 – The Culmination Event for the second Youth Summit was held. Some of the projects presented were: making blankets and distributing them to residents of migrant camps, starting an anti-gang program, creative pro-diversity murals, reading and donating books to a local elementary school, creating a reality versus perception survey around teen A&D use, and a summit to help elementary school students transition  to junior high.

January 2007 – The Youth Advisory Council has designed and adopted a new logo.

YAC members traveled to Salem to advocate for a beer and wine tax to fund health insurance for children. They met with Senate President Peter Courtney and Speaker of the House Jeff Merkley.
