Drinking Water

How Washington County regulates drinking water quality standards.

Washington County Environmental Health administers and enforces drinking water quality standards for public drinking water systems that use groundwater and serve a population of 3,300 or fewer. Washington County has just under 100 public drinking water systems that meet these criteria. A sanitary survey is conducted at these systems once every three to five years.

Washington County's Drinking Water Program is a resource for drinking water system operators and the public when dealing with water quality alerts, public notices, water monitoring and testing, and sanitary hazard analysis.

If you are worried there might be lead in your home's water, visit the CDC’s webpage for more information.
