Food Warehouse

Food warehouses are required to meet rules necessary to prevent the contamination of stored foods, single-service articles, utensils and equipment.

A food warehouse is a business where prepackaged food, utensils, single-service articles, cleaning or servicing supplies for vending machines, mobile food units or food commissaries are stored. Food preparation and utensil washing are not allowed in a food warehouse.

Food warehouses are required to meet rules necessary to prevent the contamination of stored foods, single-service articles, utensils and equipment. In general, food warehouses are exempt from the rules relating to finished walls, ceilings or storage bases, light-colored surfaces, restrooms, lavatories and utility facilities as long as foods are protected from contamination caused by dust, insects, rodents, flooding, drainage or other contaminants.
