HIV Testing: What You Need To Know

What are the walk-in HIV Testing clinics?

During certain hours every week, Washington County Health Department offers low cost rapid HIV testing and counseling services to those who qualify. You can choose to test anonymously (without your name) or confidentially (with your name). Confidential test results are available only to you, authorized medical personnel, and sometimes your state's health department.  Washington County Health Clinics will not deny anyone service if they cannot pay.

Who can get a low cost rapid HIV test during walk-in clinic hours?

Only four body fluids transmit the HIV virus:

What if none of these apply to you?

If none of these apply to you, you can still get an HIV test. Please call (503) 846-8851 to make an appointment at one of the Washington County Health Clinics. There is a fee for the test. Washington County Health Clinics will not deny anyone service due to inability to pay.

Do you have to make an appointment to get tested?

No appointment is necessary during walk-in clinic hours.

Do you have to pay for the test?

There is a fee for those who qualify for HIV testing during walk-in clinics. The fee is 30 dollars, however, no one is turned away if they are unable to pay.  This fee allows us to continue to provide services to you and to others.

When will you get your results?

Same day results are available during walk-in clinics. Results are ready in two weeks at other clinics. Results are only given to you in person. HIV test results are never given over the phone or delivered through the mail.
