Are you ready to quit? You are not alone. More than 69% of Oregon tobacco users say they are ready to quit. Quitting tobacco is one of the most important things you can do to protect your health and the health of your loved ones. Nobody says quitting is easy, but it IS possible, and we have many resources to help you quit for good!
Quit Line: One of the best resources available is the Oregon Quit Line. This is a FREE
program that helps you create an easy-to-follow Quitting Plan that will show you how to get ready, take action, and then live the rest of your life as a non-smoker. The Quit Line uses the Four Essential Practices to Quit for Life:
- Quit at your own pace.
- Conquer your urges to smoke.
- Use medications so they really work.
- Don't just quit; become a non-smoker.

In-Person Help: In-person services are available at local hospitals, such as Tuality, Providence, Kaiser and Legacy.

Tobacco-Free Environments
More than 600,000 deaths per year worldwide are caused by secondhand smoke; 165,000
of these deaths are among children. The Washington County TPEP focuses on tobacco-related chronic disease prevention and promoting tobacco-free environments in the following areas:
- Worksites

- The Oregon Clean Indoor Act protects workers and the public from secondhand smoke at work and in public places. The law prohibits smoking inside of indoor workplaces, as well as prohibits smoking within ten feet of entrances/exits, windows that open, and ventilation intakes of workplaces or public places. Report a violation of the law by submitting a complaint (can be anonymous).

TPEP collaborates with Washington County Environmental Health to conduct outreach, education and enforcement of the smoke free workplace law. If you would like more information about enforcement of the Oregon Indoor Clean Air Act, please call 503-846-8722.
