School-Based Health Centers
Service Description
School Based Health Centers are clinics located on a school campus, often a high school, which provide medical care, mental health care and sometimes dental care. Services are generally available to all students in the district and are billed on a sliding scale. Insurance is accessed when available, but no one is turned away due to an inability to pay. School Based Health Centers are generally staffed with a Nurse Practitioner, a Licensed Mental Health Clinician and a Medical Assistant. Mental Health services include, but are not limited to: mental health assessments, brief individual, group and family counseling, referral and linkage to ongoing mental health services in the community, and coordination with other providers and the schools as needed.
