August 1 – 7: 2010 World Breastfeeding Week
The 2010 World Breastfeeding Week reminds us that to fit breastfeeding into their lives, mothers need support — beginning with the earliest days after their babies are born.
Washington County's Department of Health and Human Services WIC Program wants to remind breastfeeding mothers about its twice monthly Breastfeeding Circles that mothers can drop in on to learn more about breastfeeding and to help them with particular problems that they may be encountering. A certified lactation consultant participates in the meetings.
During the meetings, mothers can discuss issues such as infant growth and development, establishing a good milk supply, dealing with fussy babies, infant sleep and feeding patterns, and how to use a breast pump. Nursing mothers are welcome to come once or drop in as often as they like. All mothers are welcome and they do not need to be enrolled in the WIC program to attend. Fathers and family member are also welcome.
There are circles conducted in both English and Spanish languages.
The Breastfeeding Circles are held in
