Services include providing information about ways to prevent pregnancy, preparing for a healthy pregnancy, and discussing options counseling for pregnancy. If not seeking pregnancy, Washington County Health Clinics can provide birth control methods that are right for the client depending on desires, lifestyles and current health situation. Education and counseling on different birth control options are done by Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners. Physical examinations may also be included in the visit.
Clients can leave with same day birth control. Methods provided include:
- Oral contraceptives (“the pill”)
- Emergency contraceptives (“morning-after pill”)
- Depo-Provera (“the shot”)
- Intrauterine Devices or IUD’s
- Ortho Evra (“the patch”)
- Nexplanon Implant
- Nuva Ring (“the ring”)
Other methods, such as sterilization or having tubes tied, are available by referral.
There are several programs available to assist in the cost of the visit. Fees may also be adjusted based on income. The clinic may be able to bill insurances for family planning services.
