Latent TB Infection
A person who is infected with tuberculosis, but does not have active TB disease, is said to have latent TB infection (LTBI). These people are not contagious and can not give the infection to anyone else. However, about 10% of these people will develop active TB disease sometime in their life. Washington County Public Health identifies people with LTBI and preventative treatment is available in the Washington County clinics.
