HEALTH WARNING: WanaBana, Weis and Schnucks apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches may contain lead

October 28, 2023: The FDA advises parents and caregivers not to buy or feed WanaBana, Weis and Schnucks apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches to children because the products may contain elevated lead levels. There is no safe level of lead in the blood for children, and even low levels can have lifelong health impacts, including damage to the nervous system and learning, hearing and speech problems. Parents and caregivers of toddlers and young children who may have consumed the product should contact their child’s health care provider about getting a blood test. Read the FDA's alert for more information. Our primary programs:

Washington County Public Health Advisory Council (PHAC) is appointed by the Washington County Board of Commissioners (BCC) to fulfill any federal and state-mandated responsibilities and to advise the BCC in its role as the governing body of the local public health authority. The PHAC will make recommendations to the BCC in areas of policy, program, and budget and to the Public Health Division Manager in establishing policy and program objectives, to support and improve community health.

Washington County investigating death of Tigard resident

The Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office reports that a Tigard resident was found deceased in their home on January 15, 2024.
