Mission: Washington County Public Health improves and protects the public's health across the lifespan through prevention, education, partnerships and healthy environments.
Vision: Healthy People, Thriving Communities
Public health works to protect individuals and communities against the spread of disease, injuries and environmental hazards while promoting and encouraging healthier lifestyles. From "No Smoking" signs to organizing immunization clinics, from restaurant inspections to bike paths, public health is all around us – protecting our health by safeguarding the places where we live, work and play. For an overview of public health, here’s an interactive website.
Washington County is a founding partner of Healthy Columbia Willamette. On this page, you'll find a wealth of information about how this collaboration among hospitals and health departments is working to improve the health of our community. You'll also find a "dashboard" that tells you at-a-glance how our community measures up on dozens of health factors (e.g., teen pregnancy rate, adults with diabetes, farmers' market density, and much more).
