Recycling is included in monthly, residential single-family home garbage collection service for urban and rural residents.

Instructions to prepare recycling for collection

 

Urban Residents (Cities and unincorporated)

  • Recycling service includes collection of mixed materials  in roll carts provided by your collection company. Collection is weekly for residents in Cornelius, Durham, Forest Grove, Tigard and Tualatin, and every-other-week for residents in Banks, Hillsboro, King City, North Plains, Sherwood and unincorporated Wasington County.  
  • Glass is collected in a separate container from your roll cart. Use your red bin to set glass at the curb. Glass is collected monthly for Durham, Sherwood and Tigard residents, weekly for Cornelius, Forest Grove and Tualatin residents and every-other-week for Banks, Hillsboro, King city, North Plains, and unincorporated Washington County residents.
  • Yard debris collection is also part of your recycling service. For your collection schedule, contact your collection company. 
  • Garbage is collected weekly from all residents.

 

Rural Residents (unincorporated Washington County only)

  • Recycling service includes monthly collection of mixed materials in red bins provided by your collection company.
  • Glass is collected in a separate container from mixed recycling. Set glass in a rigid container (like a bucket) for collection next to the red bins.
  • Yard debris collection is not included as part of rural recycling service. 
  • For your collection schedule, contact your collection company.
  • Garbage is collected weekly from all residents. 


Collection Schedules

If you have questions about your schedule, contact your hauler  who will verify your address and confirm your collection day. A curbside collection calendar  is available to print and mark your pick-up day.
