At Work
Recycling made simple!
Businesses generate nearly two-thirds of the Metro region’s waste and play a critical role in reducing the amount of material sent to landfills each day. Many local jurisdictions have adopted business recycling requirements to help capture much of the recyclable material from the commercial waste stream.
- The Washington County Recycle at Work program offers free assistance and educational materials for your workplace. From posters, deskside and copy room boxes, and signage to assistance/guidance on other sustainable practices. This program helps every business - from small to large*.
- For most business customers in Washington County, recycling service is included in the monthly garbage collection rate.
- Thanks to a mixed recycling approach, materials can be recycled without sorting each type of material. The only exception to this system is glass. Always keep glass bottles and jars (all colors) separate from mixed recycling by setting them in a separate designated container.
* The Recycle at Work assistance and recognition programs and the Business Recycling Requirements are not applicable to home-based businesses. If you operate a home-based business and you have questions regarding recycling, please contact us at (503) 846-8609.
