For Communities

Washington County's Department of Health and Human Services serves the people of the community in a variety of ways:

  • Public Health protects the health of the community as a whole through tracking and preventing the spread of communicable diseases, educating people about healthy foods and habits, inspecting restaurants and places where food is prepared and preparing for health emergencies.  It also provides clinical services for reproductive health, immunization and sexually transmitted infections and administers the nutrition program for low-income pregnant women and young children.
  • Addiction Services assures the delivery of chemical dependency and problem gambling treatment services and promotes drug prevention and education.
  • The Commission on Children and Families works to create a positive future for the children and families of Washington County.
  • Disability, Aging and Veteran Services works to improve the quality of life of seniors and persons with disabilities and to assist veterans of U. S. military service to receive the benefits they have earned.
  • Disability Services offers assistance to children who suffer developmental disabilities and their families and caregivers. Mental Health Services administers the Oregon Health Plan beneficiaries, both children and adults, who are consumers of mental health services.
