Greening the Code

Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation (LUT) began in 2010 to evaluate its land use and building codes to identify barriers to energy efficient and sustainable development. Greening the Code (GTC) seeks to lay a foundation for a healthy and prosperous future by enabling development that is energy efficient, sustainable and economically wise.

The Greening the Code Research Summary Report highlights current conditions of conventional building practices, identification of sustainable features that may encounter obstacles in Washington County, and a review of best practices.
