Public Hearing & Schedules
The Current Planning Division holds several types of hearings. Hearings are typically scheduled for the third Thursday of each month in the Shirley Huffman Auditorium located in the Public Services Building (PSB). Review specific agendas to confirm the actual date and time of a specific hearing. Hearing types include:
Development Applications:
Public Hearings are required for all Type III land use applications. The Public Hearings follow a set of rules that provide County Staff, the Applicant, and members of the public the opportunity to present testimony on the application. Testimony is taken into consideration by the Hearings Officer prior to issuing a decision to approve or deny the applicaion.
Development Appeals:
Type II land use applications are approved by the Director of Land Use and Transportation. If a Type II approval is appealed, the appeal is heard by the Hearings Officer, following rules similar to those for Development Applications.
Code Compliance:
Notices of Civil Violation (NCVs) are issued for Building and Development Code violations. NCVs are adjudicated in Code Compliance hearings, which are also conducted by the Hearings Officer. Thises hearings are similar to court proceedings. Testimony by the public is not generally permitted at these hearings, unless specifically allowed by the Hearings Officer.
