Washington County studied the current transportation system and how it could change to better meet the long-term needs of the County's residents, businesses, and visitors. The result is an updated Transportation System Plan (TSP) that includes all transportation modes, including freight, pedestrians and bicyclists, transit, rail networks, airport, and motor vehicles.

Update: January 15, 2015

The Washington County Transportation System Plan 2014, formerly known as the TSP 2035, was developed in two phases. The first phase resulted in A-Engrossed Ordinance 768 which outlines the goals, objectives and strategies for the transportation system and provided a framework for the second phase and ordinance. The second phase involved the development of a set of maps identifying specific recommendations for all elements of the county's transportation system, including public transit, bicycles, pedestrians, freight and the functional classification and desired number of lanes on county roads. This information was formalized in A-Engrossed Ordinance 783.

The Washington County TSP 2014 resulted in two new ordinances that became effective December 1, 2014:
