Land Use Ordinances

A land use ordinance adopts, amends or repeals provisions of the Washington County Comprehensive Plan, which includes the Community Plans, the Transportation System Plan, the Community Development Code and/or related maps, or otherwise directly governs the use of land.

The Washington County Charter states land use "ordinance season" is every year from March 1 - Oct. 31. All public hearings for land use ordinances must take place during the ordinance season time frame.

If a final decision has not been reached by Oct. 31, the ordinance shall be deemed rejected unless the Board of Commissioners continue the matter to an exact time and date no earlier than March 1 of the following year.

Public hearings take place in the Hillsboro Civic Center Shirley Huffman Auditorium, 150 E. Main Street, Hillsboro, Oregon. You may provide oral or written testimony at a public hearing or send testimony, including email, with the author's name and address to:

Washington County, Long Range Planning Division
155 N. First Ave., Suite 350, MS14, Hillsboro, OR 97124-3072
