Land Use Ordinances
A Land Use Ordinance adopts, amends or repeals the provisions of a comprehensive plan, development or zoning code and related maps or otherwise directly governs the use of land. It does not include such subjects as: financing public improvements, road engineering and utility standards, building code, development fees, sewer or septic regulations or nuisance control. There is no limit on the number of ordinances which may be introduced in any calendar year.
The ordinance season is from March 1st to November 1st of each calendar year. No proposed land use ordinance shall be adopted on or after November 1st. If a final decision on a land use ordinance has not been reached by October 31, the ordinance shall be deemed rejected unless the board, by affirmative action, continues the ordinance to a time and date certain on or after March 1st of the subsequent year.
