Event Permit
Applications for the following permits must be requested for each event. Contact our Traffic Engineering section at (503) 846-7950 or via email at luttraffic@co.washington.or.us for the most current application packet. Allow four (4) weeks processing time.
The following must be complied with and completed prior to the issuance of the permits:
Race and Special Event Permit
- A certificate of insurance must be submitted with the permit application.

- Each participant, or the participant's legal guardian if less than eighteen years of age, must sign a waiver of liability release for the sponsor to keep as a legal document.
- A signed Washington County Indemnity Agreement must be submitted with the permit.
- A map of the route or area involved must be submitted with the permit.
- Traffic control and parking plans must be submitted with the permit.
- The applicant is responsible for obtaining approval from the Department of Public Safety (Sheriff's Office).
- Applicant agrees to promptly clean the course or area of all debris left by the participants or observers of the event.
- Non-refundable Application and Permit Fee must be attached to and submitted with the permit.
Parade Permit
- A certificate of insurance must be submitted with the permit.
- A signed Washington County Indemnity Agreement must be submitted with the permit.
- A map of the route or area involved must be submitted with the permit.
- Traffic control and parking plans must be submitted with the permit.
- Applicant is responsible for obtaining approval from the Department of Public Safety (Sheriff's Office).
- Applicant agrees to promptly clean the course or area of all debris left by the participants or observers of the event.
- Non-refundable Application and Permit Fee must be attached to and submitted with the permit.
Film and Video Permit
- Three (3) sets of production plans showing all pertinent details, exact locations, shooting times, signing, and any special parking requests and the nature of the production.
- The name, address and telephone number of the agency performing the work and on onsite personnel.
- Proposed starting and completion dates.
- Submit plans for traffic control approval in the event of road closure or detour.
- Present bond or cash deposit as surety of performance and maintenance, as required.
- A certificate of insurance must be submitted with the permit.
- Non-refundable Application and Permit Fee must be attached to and submitted with the permit.
The Following Conditions and Guidelines Apply:
- Permits for working within County road and publicly dedicated road right-of-ways shall be obtained from the department prior to commencing the work.
- The designated company agent shall sign or authorize all permit applications.
- The applicant shall be responsible for quality control inspection of all work performed in road right-of-ways.
- The County may perform spot inspections to monitor quality control.
- The applicant shall be responsible for the acceptance of Restoration and Ensuing Responsibilities.
Block Party Authorization
Note: Qualifying streets include dead-end streets and cul-de-sacs. Other neighborhood streets may be approved on a case by case basis. 
The following must be provided:
- Street closure name and drawing with the location of the party.
- Date and hours of the block party.
- Name and phone number of contact person.
- Signed Authorization form.
The Following Conditions and Guidelines Apply:
- No fee required, however;
- Notify Sheriff's Office (503) 846-2700 and Fire Marshal/Fire Station, with information above.
- Provide notice to all affected parties (100% Agreement).
- Limit hours of operation to daylight hours - comply with all City & County ordinances.
- Using a vehicle to close off street is prohibited. (You can use cones, saw horses, ribbon).
- Traffic control and parking plans must be submitted with the permit.
- Area must be cleaned up after the party is over.
