Bethany Boulevard paving prep work April 28 – May 2 - Expect delays
For Immediate Release: Friday, April 25, 2014
A contractor for Washington County's Department of Land Use & Transportation will begin pavement grinding and pre-leveling work next week on Bethany Boulevard between Cornell Road and West Union Road. This work is in preparation for the upcoming final paving work planned later in the spring. This preparatory work is tentatively scheduled to occur Monday, April 28 through Friday, May 2. Work north of Highway 26 will occur between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day. Work south of Highway 26 will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night. Travelers are encouraged to use alternate routes or expect potentially long delays.
This preparatory work is weather dependent and will be postponed if the weather changes from the current forecast. During this work, one lane in each direction will generally remain open; however, additional lane restrictions may be necessary at certain times. Final paving work will occur in the coming weeks when there is a significant period of dry and warm weather. Additional notification will be provided prior to final paving commencing.
This project widened Bethany Boulevard between Cornell Road and West Union Road, including the U.S. 26 overcrossing. Additional improvements include bicycle and pedestrian facilities, street lighting and utility upgrades. The project is funded through the County’s Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP).
