Urban Road Maintenance District Publishes Annual Report
For Immediate Release Thursday, May 24, 2012
Washington County’s Urban Road Maintenance District (URMD) takes care of about 430 miles of urban neighborhood streets that are outside of cities. Pavement maintenance is URMD’s primary responsibility. Efficient and cost-effective maintenance planning and cyclical surface treatments have resulted in “good” or better pavement condition on almost 95 percent of URMD roads. Read the report to find out more about how URMD achieves this high standard.
In September 2011, the URMD Board expanded the services eligible for URMD funding to include construction of safety improvements. The URMD Advisory Committee will have input into selection of safety projects.
Washington County is committed to planning, building and maintaining the best transportation system, ensuring the safety of all roadway users, and to operating the county roadway system in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
