North Bethany

North Bethany is a new urban community comprised of 800 acres that were added to urban unincorporated Washington County in 2002.  Since 2006, this area has been the subject of a concept planning process to identify land use designations and infrastructure services. Learn more about the North Bethany area.

Project Status

In summer and fall 2009, the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners considered adoption of three items related to North Bethany. The items and current status are:

  • Ordinance 712-A: Adopted October 27, 2009
  • North Bethany Transportation SDC: On-going
  • North Bethany Funding Strategy: On-going
Before Ordinance 712-A can take effect, the county needs to establish minimum and maximum densities for each of the land use designations shown on the Concept Plan, establish Community Development Code standards, and complete the funding strategy (including the proposed North Bethany Transportation SDC).  The county will continue working with stakeholders and hold additional public meetings in developing these work products.  After public review and comment the county will file another ordinance for review and consideration by the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners.  A timeline of events and milestones will be posted soon.
