Bethany Blvd (Cornell to West Union)
Bethany Boulevard provides north-south access between the rapidly growing residential areas north of Highway 26 and mixed office/commercial areas south of Highway 26. With continually increasing traffic in the area, the previous two-lane roadway created congestion and safety concerns and lacked bike lanes and sections of sidewalk.
This project widened the Highway 26 overpass at Bethany Boulevard, adding bike lanes, a sidewalk on the east side, and a multi-use path on the west side. The highway on-ramps and off-ramps at this location were also improved.
Bethany Boulevard between Bronson and West Union was widened to two lanes in each direction with an intermittent center turn lane. Sight distance is now improved at all intersections and continuous sidewalks and bike lanes have been added to both sides of the roadway.
In addition to this project, Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD) installed a new waterline.
The $24.6 million project was funded through the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). The total project cost is estimated and includes the cost of design, right-of-way and construction.
