Boones Ferry Road (Norwood to Day)
Boones Ferry Road, between Norwood and Day, was previously a two-lane arterial with minimal shoulders and no bike or pedestrian facilities. This stretch of road was hilly, had substandard curves just north of Day and sight distance issues at existing intersections and driveways.
This project improved safety and capacity issues for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians. Improvements included one travel lane in each direction with an intermittent center turn lane, bike lanes on both sides and pedestrian facilities on the west side of the road. The roadway has also been realigned to meet 45 mph arterial standards, which included flattening the existing curves. In addition to the project, pedestrian facilities were also completed on both sides of Boones Ferry between Iowa Drive and Norwood Road.
This project falls within the Basalt Creek Planning Area. For more information about the Basalt Creek Planning Effort, go to: www.basaltcreek.com
This $10 million project was funded through the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP) and Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA)
