"Moving 99W Forward". Washington County is working with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), and the City of Tigard to combine and construct two roadway improvement projects: Highway 99W intersections at SW Hall Boulevard and SW Greenburg Road/SW Main Street.

This is a collaborative process. Highway 99W and SW Hall Boulevard (Hwy 141) are both state highways under ODOT's jurisdiction. These two, along with SW Greenburg Road and SW Main Street are all within Tigard's city limits.

Washington County is managing the project in close coordination with the other two jurisdictions.

PROJECT NEED
The 99W corridor is severely congested during peak travel periods with average daily traffic (ADT) at 50,000 vehicles per day. Traffic congestion is a safety and air quality concern and leads to driver frustration. The completed project will improve safety and capacity by allowing more efficient signal operation and increased traffic flow.

IMPROVEMENTS

  1. SW Hall Boulevard / Northbound at Hwy 99W – Add an additional lane to provide separate left, through, and right turn lanes. (Currently there are two northbound lanes.)
  2. SW Hall Boulevard / Southbound at Hwy 99W – Add an additional lane to provide separate left, through, and right turn lanes. (Currently there are two southbound lanes.)
  3. SW Greenburg Road / 99W – Add an additional lane to provide separate left, through, and right turn lanes. (Currently there are two southbound lanes.)
  4. SW Main Street / 99W – Add an additional lane to provide separate left, through, and right turn lanes. (Currently there are two northbound lanes.)
  5. Highway 99W – Add an additional eastbound lane from west of SW Main Street/SW Greenburg Road to the Highway 217 on-ramps. The third westbound lane would be extended through the Greenburg/Main intersection.
  6. Extend the existing median island on Highway 99W from SW Hall Boulevard to ORE 217.

Throughout the project corridor there will be widened sidewalks, new bike lanes, improved pedestrian crossings, as well as updated bus stops and shelters. To improve the flow of truck traffic, all corners will have larger turning radius.
