6) SPECIALIZED LEGAL RESEARCH RESOURCES
HeinOnline (remote access through WCCLS)
- HeinOnline is a specialized legal research database. Anyone with a Washington County (WCCLS) public library card may search the database free of charge. To connect to HeinOnline, link to WCCLS, click on the Government/Law link under Online Resources, and follow the instructions to log onto HeinOnline.
- How to apply for a WCCLS card? Residents who live in Multnomah, Clackamas, or Hood River counties in Oregon, or reside in the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District or the City of Camas in Washington, may obtain a WCCLS library card without paying a non-resident fee.
Other:
- L-net: Oregon Libraries Network (for legal and non-legal reference questions)
- Public Video-Conferencing Sites in Oregon (updated July 2009)
- Check with your local libraries (public and academic) for their subscription database services. Researchers whose own public libraries do not offer the databases needed can find libraries in other communities that allow non-residents to apply for membership for a nominal fee and then have access to databases.
- One of the most popular of those is the NYPL, but other libraries offer similar fee-based research services to non-residents.
