Proctor to Lead Community Development Office


The Washington County Administrative Office announced that Jennie Proctor is the new manager of the county's Office of Community Development.

Proctor began working for Washington County in 1997 as a grant technician for Community Development. She has spent the last 14 years serving in positions of increasing responsibility, including managing the office's budget and accounting; coordinating a caseload of community development projects; supervising staff; and overseeing the implementation of new programs.  

"We are extremely lucky to have someone with Jennie's experience and knowledge ready to take the reins in Community Development," said Assistant County Administrator Rob Massar. "Jennie has the respect and trust of those she has worked with in the community and within the county organization."

The Washington County Office of Community Development manages the Urban County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnership programs on behalf of the county and eleven cities within the county. The programs focus on the development of viable urban communities, decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities for persons of low and moderate income. The county's proposed budget for 2011-2012 would fund the program and its 8.17 full-time-equivalent staff positions with $4.6 million. Federal funding accounts for nearly all of the office's budget.
