Your Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Team is comprised of four civilian Crime Prevention Specialists and one Administrative Specialist.

While deputies respond to calls for service or react to crimes that happen in their presence, this team works with citizens, businesses, and allied agencies throughout Washington County to prevent crimes before they occur. This is accomplished in large degree through education and community policing strategies.

The Crime Prevention Team gives numerous educational presentations to community and civic groups in English or Spanish. Popular topics include:

Other topics are available as needed, and new programs are developed as needed to address new crime trends.

The Crime Prevention Team also produces our highly regarded Neighborhood Watch Newsletter, which is available by e-mail subscription, via our web site, and by mail.

Every first Tuesday in August, they bring together Sheriff's Office staff and all of our Neighborhood Watch partners to celebrate National Night Out.

In addition, your Crime Prevention Specialists are members of the Westside Crime Prevention Coalition.  This group includes members from various local law enforcement agencies who work together to address common concerns.  The Coalition sponsors monthly forums for landlords and property managers and coordinates an annual training workshop to keep illegal activity off rental property.
