National Night Out is an annual community event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and expand police-community partnerships. We look forward to joining neighborhood gatherings across Washington County in an effort to discuss ways in which we, together can keep our community safer.

This year's theme, "See Something, Say Something" encourages residents to not only contact 9-1-1 when a crime has been committed, but also utilize our non-emergency number to report activities or situations that may seem suspicious or troubling.  Deputies also plan to provide tips on how neighbors can work together year-round to help keep their home and neighborhood safer.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office and Officer McGruff will be at the following community events on the evening of August 4, 2015:

  • Banks National Night Out at 44950 NW Hartwick Road - 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Bethany National Night Out at John Marty Park - 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Cornelius National Night Out at Harleman Park - 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Metzger National Night Out at Metzger Park - 7:00 - 9:30 p.m.
  • North Plains National Night Out at 30975 NW Hillcrest St - 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Individuals unable to attend a National Night Out event, can download our Neighborhood Safety Flyer.  This flyer includes important tips about knowing your neighbors and neighborhood, keeping up your yard, safeguarding outdoor equipment; exercising caution at night; safety when you are out of tow; and helping our detectives locate stolen items.

The Washington County Sheriff's Offices thanks Fred Meyer, Walmart, Cornelius Disposal, Franz Bakery, Bunny Girt-State Farm, Bimbo Bakeries, Sonic Drive In, Sister's Fruit Company, and Fastenal for their support of this year's Cornelius National Night Out.
