Family Medical Leave
The purpose of these laws are to secure the right of eligible employees to respond to their own serious health needs and those of their qualified family members. Washington County's FML Policy has been designed to consolidate provisions of both State and Federal laws in such a way as to allow employees the maximum advantage.
The intentions of FMLA and OFLA is to balance the demands of the workplace with the needs of families, to promote the stability and economic security of families, and to promote national interests in preserving family integrity.
The Department of Labor created an "Employees Guide to the Family and Medical Leave Act". This guide outlines Employee and Employer right and responsibilities and will also assist you in determining if you may qualify for FMLA.
