To protect the health and safety of our community, the Public Health Division of Washington County Department of Health and Human Services is closely watching the situation regarding the H1N1 (swine) flu that has infected people in the United States and other nations.  We will update this Web site as important information becomes available.

The State of Oregon has opened a Flu Hot Line at 1-800-978-3040.  It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Washington County Public Health also opened a bi-lingual hotline for citizens concerned about H1N1 Virus. The hotline will be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number, also open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., is 503 846-2999.

Remember, the best way to protect yourself and others is by taking these normal precautions:

  1. cover your cough
  2. wash your hands often
  3. avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes
  4. avoid coming close to a sick person.

If you are sick with any flu like symptoms (including fever, lethargy, lack of appetite, coughing, runny nose, sore throat, and possibly nausea, vomiting and diarrhea) stay home from work, school and social events where you could spread your illness.
