Some Washington County voters to receive supplemental voters’ pamphlet due to Oregon Elections Division design error
On April 21st, 2022, the Secretary of State’s Office issued a media release that the Oregon Elections Division had discovered an error in that agency’s voters’ pamphlet printed for the May 17, 2022, primary election. Candidate statements for four Washington County House Districts were inadvertently omitted from the printed pamphlet due to an Oregon Elections Division error.
Upon learning about the error, the Secretary of State’s office notified the candidates, Washington County election officials and other interested parties about the omissions. Now, the Secretary of State’s Office and Washington County elections officials are working to ensure impacted voters receive the supplemental voters’ pamphlets in time.
All four candidates are running unopposed for their party nominations. The following candidate statements were omitted from the printed pamphlet in the version sent to Washington County:
- Rep. Courtney Neron HD 26 (D)
- Rep. Dacia Grayber HD 28 (D)
- Rep. Susan McLain HD 29 (D)
- Rep. Maxine Dexter HD 33 (D)
Approximately 80,000 Washington County voters were impacted by the mistake. The Oregon Elections Division will print and mail a separate supplemental voters’ pamphlet to reach affected Washington County voters by April 27th. The Washington County Elections Office will also have the printed supplemental voters’ pamphlet available on site. Both online versions found here http://oregonvotes.gov/voters-guide-military/votersguide.html and Spanish versions of the voters’ pamphlets remain unaffected.
Registered Washington County voters will begin receiving their ballots next week, when ballots start getting delivered on April 27th. The deadline to register to vote in the primary election is midnight on April 26, and the fastest way to register is online by visiting washcovotes.org or calling the Washington County Elections Office for assistance at (503) 846-5800.
