The responsibilities of the Department of Assessment and Taxation include appraisal and assessment of property; collection of property taxes for all taxing entities; recording documents, land plats, issuing marriage licenses, records retention and administration of Elections.

Attention:

The Assessment and Taxation Department has moved to the Charles D. Cameron Public Services Building located at 155 N First Avenue, Hillsboro. The location is indicated by the red star below.

Assessment & Taxation - Property Tax Prepayments

Washington County is unable to accept any prepayments on taxes for the 2018/2019 tax year. Per Oregon Revised Statutes, pre-collection of funds may not be allowed, unless under specific situations such as omitted property which adds taxes to the roll; prepayment to the Oregon Department of Revenue for senior deferral balances; partition and plats of parcels or making a subdivision; and other situations outlined in ORS 311.370. According to the Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 150-311-0260) unless authorized by law, no prepayments of property taxes which have not been certified by a taxing district, shall be collected or accepted.

Payment Drop Box

Two drop boxes are located at the Public Service Building, 155 N First Ave., Hillsboro. The 24 hour drop box site is located at the West side of the building; the other drop box site will be available the latter part of August.
