The responsibilities of the Department of Assessment and Taxation include appraisal and assessment of property; collection of property taxes for all taxing entities; recording documents, land plats, issuing marriage licenses, records retention and administration of Elections.
The Assessment and Taxation Department has moved to the Charles D. Cameron Public Services Building located at 155 N First Avenue, Hillsboro. The location is indicated by the red star below.
Please note that access to the building is from either Lincoln Street or First Avenue.
Property Tax Statement
Many of you will be receiving your annual Property Tax Statement on or before October 25, 2018. Payment for taxes are due on or before November 15, 2018. Payments must be POSTMARKED on or before November 15, 2018. Please return the lower portion of your tax bill(s) with payment in the enclosed envelope.
Payment Drop Box
Two drop boxes are located at the Public Services Building, 155 N First Ave., Hillsboro. The 24 hour drop box is located on the West side of the building; the other drop box is available Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, located in the Public Services lobby outside of Suite 130.
