Criminal Prosecution

The District Attorney's Office is the sole prosecutor of felony crimes and handles the vast majority of all misdemeanor crimes in Washington County. There are 36 Deputy District Attorneys who handle felony and misdemeanor cases. The Deputy District Attorneys are divided into three units: the misdemeanor unit (which prosecutes misdemeanor crimes), the felony unit (which prosecutes felony crimes), and the child abuse unit (which prosecutes child physical and sexual abuse cases).

In addition to their day-to-day duties, Deputy District Attorneys provide after-hours assistance to law enforcement agencies and participate in a variety of multidisciplinary and multi-jurisdictional teams including:
