Mental illness can have a profound impact in all areas of a person's life.  It is not uncommon for an individual with a mental illness to have contact with the criminal justice system.  Washington County strives to develop a collaborative, supportive relationship with the various components of the criminal justice/corrections system to identify and provide treatment for mentally ill individuals who are in jail, on probation or who have frequent contact with law enforcement.  As part of this endeavor, Washington County is continually evaluating the services currently being offered and utilizing a long-term planning approach to develop a comprehensive system to ensure that all individuals involved in corrections can have access to appropriate treatment.  In addition to routine Outpatient and Rehabilitation treatment, Washington County offers two services to help link individuals into treatment:

     Jail Mental Health Services

     Mental Health Court

     Forensic Assertive Community Treatment Program
