Rental Assistance Programs

The Department of Housing Services offers a variety of programs and housing to meet the needs of low income households in Washington County, Oregon.

Rental assistance programs

Our Rental Assistance programs serve the largest number of Washington County households with rental subsidies that typically allow them to rent from any private landlord in the community. The Washington County Department of Housing Services offers a wide variety of housing options to qualified applicants:

There are also several specialized rental assistance programs:

  • Mainstream Vouchers assist 208 non-elderly persons with disabilities.
  • Emergency Housing Vouchers assist 89 individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at high risk of housing instability.
  • Project-Based Vouchers, provide rental assistance to low-income households, but are linked to a specific unit at a specific site.

Project-Based Voucher awards

We also administer Project-Based Rental Assistance and the Project-Based Voucher program where the Housing Choice Voucher is connected to the unit, instead of the household. The Department periodically offers property owners the opportunity to submit proposals for Project-Based Voucher assistance.
