Southwest Corridor - Light Rail Planning

TriMet’s proposed Southwest Corridor Light Rail project will extend from downtown Portland to Bridgeport in Tualatin through Tigard.
Southwest Corridor Light Rail Planning Map

The proposed Southwest Corridor Light Rail project would supply fast, safe and reliable transit for the area’s growing population. It will also help relieve congestion on the I-5 corridor.

We partnered with Metro, TriMet, Oregon Department of Transportation and the cities of Portland, Tigard and Tualatin. This included an environmental assessment of the Corridor's preferred alignment. We expect The Federal Transit Administration to release the Record of Decision in early 2022. The project will then be ready for final design and construction.

Project funding is expected to come from a mix of federal, state, regional and local sources. Metro’s Get Moving 2020 measure, an anticipated funding source, was defeated in November 2020.
