Daytime closures for northbound Bethany Blvd at Hwy 26 from May 6 through May 31

For Immediate Release: Friday, May 03, 2013

Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation, Capital Project Services Division

Bethany Detour MapUpdate:
Unexpected delays will require an additional week of daytime closures.

Daytime closures are anticipated to end by May 31.

Original Release:
Beginning Monday May 6, northbound Bethany Boulevard will be closed to through traffic between the eastbound and westbound Highway 26 frontage roads, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

These daytime lane closures are necessary for the demolition of portions of the existing Bethany Boulevard overcrossing structure (guardrail, fencing, sidewalk and a portion of the existing bridge deck) in preparation for the process of tying in a new bridge deck that will accommodate the widening of Bethany Boulevard.

These daytime closures are anticipated to end by May 24, 2013.

A signed detour route will be in place:

  • East on the eastbound Highway 26 frontage road to Cornell Road;

  • North over the Cornell Road overcrossing to the westbound Highway 26 frontage road;

  • West on the westbound Highway 26 frontage road back to Bethany Boulevard.

Drivers should expect significant delays and are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid the area. The public’s patience is greatly appreciated as we work toward completing this significant improvement project.
