A weight limit change on B Street bridge over Gales Creek was approved by the Washington County Board of Commissioners during its regular meeting on Jan. 5.

The restriction is the result of a recent Oregon Department of Transportation inspection, which limits bridge travel of six or seven-axle single-unit trucks to no more than 29 tons.

Of Washington County’s 184 bridges, 14 are weight limited.

Weight limits remain until bridges are repaired or replaced. The County’s weight-limited bridges are safe for normal traffic not exceeding the posted weight limits. The limits for each bridge are unique, depending on structural integrity and condition. Enforcement of posted weight limits is provided by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Motor Carrier Officers.
