March 20 Open House for SW 124th Avenue Extension Project
For Immediate Release: Monday, March 11, 2013
Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation invites the public to attend a neighborhood open house on March 20 for the SW 124th Avenue extension project. The event will be held at the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue Training Center, 12400 SW Tonquin Road, Sherwood. The public is invited to drop in anytime between 5 and 7:30 p.m. to learn more about the project. Project staff from Washington County, along with its design engineer, David Evans and Associates, Inc. will be available to answer questions and solicit feedback.
This project proposes to extend SW 124th Avenue to the south from Tualatin-Sherwood Road to Grahams Ferry Road as an interim two-lane arterial. Improvements will also be made to Tonquin Road between the TVF&R Training Center and the eastern Waldo Way intersection.
The extension of SW 124th Avenue has been identified as a critical transportation link to serve future industrial lands being planned by the cities of Tualatin, Wilsonville and Sherwood. Extending the roadway to Grahams Ferry was a recent outcome from the Basalt Creek Transportation Refinement Plan process.
This project is funded through the county’s Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2014.
