Open House for two projects on 175th Avenue is April 21
For Immediate Release: Wednesday, March 30, 2016
An open house for two projects on 175th Avenue will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Scholls Heights Elementary School, 16400 SW Loon Drive.
The event, sponsored by the Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation, will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about proposed improvements and to provide input to staff. No formal presentation is planned.
Improvements are needed at the four-way stop at 175th Avenue and Kemmer Road. The traffic flow at this intersection is inefficient, particularly at peak travel times. Improvements being considered include a roundabout or traffic signal. After reviewing public comments, the design of the preferred alternative will begin. Construction is expected in 2018.
The two-lane portion of 175th Avenue from Scholls Ferry to 500 feet south of Alvord Lane will be improved to two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, street lighting, and improved drainage system. Construction is scheduled for 2017.
