River Road culvertRiver Road, between Farmington and Rosedale roads, reopened one week earlier than anticipated, following emergency repairs resulting from a collapsed culvert.

The road closed Dec. 13. and reopened Dec. 20. Crews excavated the roadway, replaced the damaged section of culvert, stabilized the embankment, paved the road and replaced the guardrail.

Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT) crews worked in conjunction with private contractors, Pihl Excavating Inc., Baker Rock Resources and Coral Construction Co. to expedite the repairs.

"The repair effort was a good example of public and private collaboration to open up this critical transportation link in our community," said Todd Watkins, LUT Operations and Maintenance Division manager. "Everyone involved worked hard and put in extra hours to accelerate the process."
